Quick Tip: Follow the Boom

You were up late last night. You lost the script. You just can’t remember lines. There are a ton of reasons you can have trouble following dialogue and when you do, there is usually one tried and true option for remembering who is talking next.

Follow the boom.

If your boom op is following dialogue they are going to know exactly who is talking next and when. I wouldn’t make it a practice but when in doubt, open that other eye up, watch the boom, and you’ll know who is going to speak next.
